How Can a B+ Possibly Be So Depressing?

I just finished taking my second Psychology test and I got a B+ on it. Usually I would be jumping for joy to have earned this grade on a 2-hour long exam, but this time is a total bummer because I desperately want a solid A in the class (and now I have an A-). Two more tests to go and four assignments. It's still more than possible. Here's to hoping tomorrow (the next exam) goes much better.

P.S. Thank you Marcus for taking care of C-dawg all day so I could get it done!

Captain Procrastinator

I am the captain procrastinator! It never fails, EVERY semester of my college career I find myself playing EXTREME catch-up during the final week of school. Welcome to my life right now.

This semester I am only enrolled in online classes, and the classes I am enrolled in are classes I have chosen to retake in order to improve the grades I currently have on my transcript. I have been successful at diligently working to earn A's in each of them all throughout the semester... EXCEPT for general psychology. I took general psych when I was a senior in highschool and earned an A- in it. The reason I signed up to retake the class was not to improve the grade, but to have the rest of the credits I needed to carry this semester to be full-time (so I could get financial aid). I figured it would be an easy three credits to carry...and it is...I just hadn't started the class until today. Luckily I just took my first test and earned an A on it. Here's to hoping I have enough stamina to do the same on the three tests I have yet to complete as well as the four assignments I have to do.

I have began and finished online classes within one week several times before and it always turns out just fine. I don't necessarily like the pressure it puts on me, though, so I do not know why I choose to do it every semester. I guess I am just a deadline driven person, and if the only deadline a teacher gives me is the final day of the semester I just have to wait until that deadline is close enough to motivate me. Ridiculous.

Doctor's and Dentists

This morning I had a Doctor's appointment and then this afternoon Marcus and I both had a Dentist appointment. I absolutely love my Doctor and my Dentist and I am so glad to have both of them. A great Doctor and Dentist really can make all the difference in the necessary things you just have to do in life to take care of your health. I have to admit, when I think about moving to Texas this fall I am most upset about having to find health care providers who will measure up to all the ones we've found here. I'm sure they exist, I just don't look forward to the hassle of finding them.

Anyway, enough of my tribute and soapbox.

My check up with Dr. Gourley went great. James sounded good and my weight gain is right where I wanted it to be. My blood pressure was 100/69 (far less than half of what it was when Connor was born). Of course, when I was 24 weeks pregnant with Connor I had fantastic blood pressure as well. It didin't go up until 32-34 weeks, and even then it was nothing to worry about. It was just a little higher than usual. I am really anxious to see what it will be at 32-34 weeks this time around. I will be having another ultra-sound to measure and track James' growth in a few weeks and I have some standard lab work to get done in two weeks. I love being pregnant but I am SO EXCITED to have my little guy here.

Marcus and I both had a cavaty filled today and I am so thankful for a dentist who does a good job. I've never been afraid of the dentist, but I have had some uncomfortable visits in the past and am always a little nervous that I will feel more pain than I want to. But good old Doc Olson (my cousin) does some darn good numbing and I didn't feel a thing. The numb feeling even wore off within the hour after it was done. Two thumbs up.

Psychic

O.K., so maybe I am not psychic, but I did make a prediction that totally came true. A few weeks ago Marcus and I were driving around town on a Saturday morning complaining about the disgusting weather we were having. It had been nice and sunny but then all of a sudden this yucky cold front came through and we ended up with snow. I told him that I bet two weeks from that day we would see leaves on some trees. Well, two weeks from that day was yesterday, and I saw leaves on 2 different trees. Amazing, huh? Just kidding...more like a lucky guess. Anyway, I could not be more happy to see that Spring is in full gear and summer will be here before we know it. I love nothing more.

Last Few Days In A Nutshell

Marcus has been out of town since early Wednesday presenting his research on physical activity and its correlation with academic performance on students at UVSC in Maryland at the National Conference of Undergraduate Research. This has been the first time since we've been married that one of us has gone a trip without the other one. Of course, with him working Nightwatch, we've spent plenty of nights away from each other. Anyway, to kill all the boring time during the day Connor and I went down to Ephraim for a few days and then brought my little sister back up with us for a night.

Connor had such a blast down in Ephraim, especially with his Uncle Tommy. Tommy is a senior in high school right now but is only taking live-interactive television courses from UVSC and seminary. He ends up only being at school 2-3 hours a day. On Thursday I asked him if he would watch Connor for me while I took a shower and got ready for the day. When I was finished my heart totally melted when I saw what he was playing with Connor. They were throwing a big bouncy ball up and down the stairs to one another. Let me explain the significance of this. When Tommy was Connor's age I used to spend nearly every waking hour with him. His FAVORITE thing to do was to play the "ball game" on the stairs. I can't even begin to add up how much time of my life has been spent doing that with Tommy when he was little. I just thought it was ridiculously cute to see him doing the same thing with Connor. Later on he rigged his sleeping bag up with a rubbermaid lid and packing tape to make the ultimate stair slide to hurl Connor down. At first I was a little nervous about it, but they were safe, and Connor had a blast!

We really enjoyed visiting with my Grandma Olson, mother, and sister in Ephraim as well. Some of us went swimming together, we made a trip to Wal*Mart (Connor's favorite), and just had fun spending time together at home. Connor put himself down for a nap even the last day we were there. Tommy and I were upstairs eating lunch and watching TV together. Connor slipped out of the room and went down to the basement. This is how Tommy found him:

He had fallen asleep downstairs leaning up against the air mattress that was blown up in the media room. He slept for two hours, so I was definitely not complaining.

When we returned to Provo (with Auntie Millie with us) Connor and Abigail went on a play date to Jumpin' Jacks (a blow-up slide and bounce place) and McDonalds. We all had a good time. Next time we go I'll have to take pictures and record Connor. He has NO fear climbing up the huge slides and going down them. So cute.

That's our last few days in a nutshell. Thanks everyone who let us visit and HOORAY for getting Marcus back in a few more hours!

At Least It's Good To Have Goals, Right?

Well...I didn't get completely finished, but I am happy to say I got awfully close. I realized I really need Marcus to help me de-junk some things, so I have a "honey do" list awaiting his return.

Connor and I are now down in Ephraim. He had no choice but to share a bed with me last night and he suprisingly was o.k. with it. Mind you, he has NEVER slept with Marcus or I, and not because we haven't allowed him to. He likes to sleep alone. Anyway, after he was asleep I tried to sneak into the bed. He woke up when I did, but all he did was laugh at me and ask, "Momma night-night too?" I told him that, yes, Momma needed to go night-night too, and he just giggled and then went back to sleep. All throughout the night he would reach over to feel if I was still there then laugh again. Unfortunately I woke up at 6:30 this morning to a little voice saying, "Uh-oh. I wet!" The poor little kid had to wet the bed the one night I am actually sleeping with him! The stinker.

High Hopes

I always have high hopes for myself, but unfortunatley, I usually don't quite meet them. For example; I set out to TOTALLY de-junk, spring clean, reorganize, etc. my little apartment sometime during the end of March. I set the goal to have it completely finished by April 1. Well, that just ended up being one big April Fools joke on myself. I didn't even come NEAR getting it all done (and I live in one tiny apartment). I did, however, manage to create a HUGE mess by trying to do all the de-junking and reorganizing. I've continued to work and I'm happy to say that the end is definitely in sight! I have now set the goal to have it all done by tomorrow afternoon, when Connor and I will be heading to my Mom's house for a few days while Marcus is out of town at a conference.

Just writing this I realize I am setting my hopes high that I will actually be able to do it, but won't it be exciting if I do?! Maybe sharing this silly goal with the whole world (or the two people that probably read my blog) will motivate me a little more. Check back tomorrow to see if I was successful...but don't bombard me with mean comments if I end up failing...especially those of you who have been my roommates in the past and know what a HUGE disaster I can make when I'm "cleaning".

Tagging...

Marcus, Connor, and I went outside for a little while on Saturday to do some tagging. I had the can of spray paint and they had...well...they just had sidewalk chalk.

O.K. So we really didn't go outside as a family to do any tagging or vandalizing, I went out to spray paint Connor's little table and the boys created some nice artwork in our parking lot. Connor had a lot of fun, and I think Marcus had just as much fun. Unfortunately we had some sudden, crazy, unexpected snow this morning and it washed away the priceless mural. Guess they'll have to head out and redo it sometime.

The Bevo Cat

*Please excuse the totally unflattering picture of me...I had just woken up...and I am unfortunately not that good looking without make-up*

Just thought I'd put this in here to let ya'll know what most of my day is like...and I don't mean me sitting on the couch...I'm talking about the big fat Bevo cat that is sitting on me. No matter where I go, no matter what I do, Bevo is there jumping up on me and begging for my attention. I swear, he is ridiculous! Why can't he just be a normal pet like our little Hemi? Marcus and I think he has some underlying emotional problems. Just kidding. We love our pets.

New Sunday Tradition

Connor has decided to implement a new Sunday tradition in our family. He has decided that every week after we come home from church that he will immediately fall asleep...even before he's had any dinner. Connor NEVER just falls asleep around the house, so when he did it the first time a few weeks ago we were shocked! Well, he did it again last week Sunday (obviously not yesterday, since it was General Conference, but the week before). I'm excited to see if he keeps it up and falls asleep after church this coming week. I HOPE SO!
