Grandpa George

My sweet Grandpa George passed away last week Tuesday. He was 90 years old.

Thank you those of you who shared your kind words and sympathy with us. I surely appreciate it.

In many ways Grandpa George's death was happy in that he has returned to Grandma who he has desperately wanted to be with. But of course, it's hard to know we have to miss him for a while.

The funeral was wonderful. President Monson attended and spent an hour with the family just as he had done when Grandma passed away. Each of the Osmond brothers and Marie spoke and sang. It was a beautiful service. Grandpa recieved full military honors at the graveside ceremony from his fellow World War II veterans.

As our entire Osmond family spent this last week together we all shared our feelings and thoughts and agreed that although the timing of Grandpa's death was shocking at first, it really could not have been more perfect. Each of his children has a remarkable story of being able to say a final goodbye without knowing that's what they were doing at the time. And I've got to say, there was no better place for us to be than with each other the moments and days proceeding his loss, continuing even until after the funeral. There was a tenderness and love we all felt and expressed to one another that really renewed our family relationships and strengthened us. I've never felt so much love for and from my dear Osmond family. I'm sure Grandma and Grandpa are pleased.

What a cute picture of you guys. A sad time but a blessing at the same time. I am sure their reunion was amazing and now you have one more guardian angel to look over you and your sweet family.
