Our family loves a good vacation, and last year we were spoiled with lots of them! It seemed like every time we got back from one trip we started counting down to the next...and it sure made life a lot of fun!
A few weeks ago Marcus and I were talking about how bummed we were to have to wait so long until our next trip (Utah this summer!) and we were wishing we had something to look forward to before then.
Welcome our staycation idea!
We decided since it is really unreasonable to live life with a vacation coming up every few months we would substitute with planning little staycations, where we find fun local things to do in this ginormous metroplex and spend the weekend doing them! We decided to make a rewards chart for Connor to "earn" the staycations and motivate him to do various things. This last month he's been earning stickers for his staycation chart by reading a scripture story and saying a prayer with us before bed each night. Well, he did a great job and earned a sticker every single night! He also did lots of little chores last week to earn spending money to take with.
ANYWAY
This weekend was our first staycation and we had a blast! We ate dinner at "The Zoo Mall" aka Rainforest Cafe Friday night, went to good old McDonalds for breakfast on Saturday, and then spent the rest of the day at the Fort Worth Zoo.
Marcus and I are trying to think up something good for our next staycation now...any good ideas?

That's so much fun! I've thought of that too, but I can't think of anything fun to do in salt lake. :p Glad you had fun!
We have a Rainforest Cafe in Tempe...I almost at there the other day but didn't.
That sounds like so much fun! What a great idea. I think maybe we should do the same thing. I love the picture of you guys. At first I thought you were holding Connor, and I thought how strong you must be. I love that he's sitting on the post things though. :) Looks like you had a blast!

Somwtimes holidays from home are more fun, beach near by? Zoo we have country parks.
Whatever it is have fun!
You guys live in such a great place for Staycations. I used to go to Dallas for my real vacations when I grew up in Tulsa!
