"I'll Be the Mommy"

Yesterday Connor wanted to play "house" with James and myself. I was the daddy, he was the mommy, and James was the big boy. This is how it went:

C: "You be the Daddy, James will be the big boy, and I'll be the Mommy!"

Me: "Ok. What does the daddy do?"

C: "You go to work. Now I'll go be the Mommy."

Connor walks into the other room and says to himself, "I better go clean...(now, in the meanest, most gruff voice he could muster) LOOK AT ALL THIS MUD (gasp)!"

He went on to pretend to clean the mess, but did so gasping and sighing the whole time.

I never really thought of myself as a mother who freaks out about a mess, but I guess that's how my child percieves me...guess I better watch the dramatic gasps and sighs the next time I clean!

He he...my mom told me that when she was pregnant with my younger brother, she noticed that I would groan and hold my belly whenever I sat down or stood up--then she realized I was just copying her!

We learn alot about ourselves listening to our children and grandchildren. At least we can laugh at ourselves. Precious times!

oh my goodness, this story is so funny. It's crazy how real kids are, although many overact too, so maybe you aren't that bad. :)

Evie was pretending to sweep the hallway one day and spent the whole time pointing at me and yelling "Move!" or "Get out of the way!". I was an eye opening experience! :)

That makes me chuckle!! So cute! I would sigh if I had to clean up Mud! Your a better mommy than most playing house with them!

You sound like me when cleaning. I huff and puff and moan and groan because I hate cleaning and I hate that I am the mom and am the one who does the majority of the cleaning.

I liked Jennie's comment too. The other day I was complaining to John that my tummy aches whenever I eat (guess there isn't enough room for food in there any more) and Alessia grabs her belly and goes, "ooh, owie".

It is quite scary how closely they watch and repeat us.

One more thing, I was driving the other day and I saw a furniture store called "Big's Furniture" and it made me think of you since John still calls you Bigs.
