Yesterday morning our family headed downstairs to go to church. When we got to our car we saw that the window by Connor's car seat had been totally smashed in and little pieces of shattered glass were everywhere inside and out.
We always take our valuables with us in our apartment, so we knew nothing had been stolen. It was obvious, however, that the person who broke in was probably trying to steal Connor's DVD player as we leave the case that holds it strapped onto the back of the seat in front of him...right by the window that was smashed. So, we're chalking that up as a lesson learned: Do not leave things that LOOK valuable inside your car.
Well, an officer came to make a police report so we could file an insurance claim. After he was done talking to us he started driving away and noticed another car just a few spots down from ours had been broken into as well. We ended up seeing three others close to our apartment. Our complex has an auto spa, and when Marcus took our car over to it to vacuum it out he saw broken glass all over the ground, indicating that someone else had already been there doing the same thing he was that morning. I wonder how many cars this actually ended up happening to?
ANYWAY,
It is what it is. Life goes on. Our window is being fixed today and we will no longer be leaving C's DVD case strapped on the seat.

i always am a little afraid when i walk to my car after work or in the morning that i'm going to see a smashed in window. i'd probably cry
aww Anna, that was awful,at least nothing was stolen. An elderly friend of ours once had her handbag (known as purse in america) stolen from the back seat of her opened car (she was chatting to someone when this happened),anyhow, the police found the theif and this theft case was taken to court, the theif was fined, the judge stated (so did the police) that had she kept her handbag (purse) out of sight ,non of this would have happened, anyhow, later on, the police rang her to say her handbag had been found (without the contents) and ask her to call at the police station to pick the handbag, she picked the handbag and took the bag home and plopped the bag in the trash can(she did not want the bag anymore cos of the theft)anyhow, since then, whenever she goes out,she would put her new bag or any valubles either under the driver seat or in the boot of her car
Yikes... good nothing was stolen. I'm glad everything's okay. We've had a few at our complex too... Scary idiots!
That is NO good! I'm glad everything is okay. That just makes you loose so much trust in people! I'm sorry!
That's horrible:(. I'm glad you guys didn't have anything valuable in the car and everything worked out ok...except the broken window and mess you had to deal with. Hope everything works out with the insurance peeps.
Wow, and that place looked so secure. Especially compared to the other, lol. Sorry about the mess. Miss ya!
Oooo this is awful.. I know its only a window but its the thought of someone in your things.. Yes a lesson there for everyone I think.
Beggers the question how many more cars??
BUT.. the main thing is that You guys are all ok and that is all that matters.

I hate that. IM sorry.
Whoa! What a shock to walk out to. Guess you're not in Orem anymore. =D (Not that that kind of thing doesn't happen in Orem, but you know what I mean!!)
Glad you guys are okay and nothing was stolen.
Good to know about Paula. I am so excited for tonight!
I am so sorry to hear that! My complex I lived in a couple years ago was known for car break ins. My roommates car was broken into one night along with 13 other cars. My parents left their car parked at a motel when they flew to CA this weekend for my nephews baptism and their car was broken into! It really stinks.
