A Gripe

Energy bills are INSANE here in the great state of Texas. Marcus and I got a bill today for 5 days of electricity use. The kwh usage was probably about the same as we would have used back in Utah but the price was nearly 5 times as much!!! We are NOT, I repeat, NOT happy about this.

Before any fellow Texans comment on this post and inform me that maybe I am with the electric company that just super-raised their rates and are on the news every day right now because of it, I am not. We are using Green Mountain Energy and they are supposedly reasonable. In fact, tomorrow at work one of Marcus' tasks is to switch his company's utilities over to them because they have such good rates.

Anyway, that is my gripe.

P.S. I am super gripey about this because Marcus called our apartment complex before we moved here to find out what utilities average for our size apartment every month...they under-quoted us significantly. We are now living in a dark and warm apartment to conserve as much energy as possible.

That sucks... I hate paying for things that are boring... like electric bills and mortgage and school.

Hope everything else is ok!

Anna, you aren't kidding! I live in a small 1 BR apt and my elec bill was $140!!! YIKES!!!

Make sure you are ONLY being charged for the days you were there! Sometimes they like to add on a few days thinking you won't notice, or someone didn't tell them when the former people moved out. Just a thought.

The same thing happened to us when we moved here from Colorado. It was 3 times as much. It threw off my budget and stressed me out so much. I am sorry.

Ha Ha gotcha beat, try California!!! Not that we want to by ANY means of the word. Matt almost cried and I about threw up when we opened up our electric bill this month, thank heavens we could go on this regulated bill plan for the next four months. We were so scared, because we had NO clue how we were going to pay for it. And I will admit I complained about the Texas ones too, because they are outrageous. It just amazes me what they charge!
